This is the wood tick but some call it the Dermacentor variabilis. Notice how it has tiny little latches on the end of its legs, those are used to latch on to living things like humans, dogs, coyotes or anything else. When they latch on to something they completely rely on that body for blood. They can carry bad diseases such as lyme disease so be careful and always check for ticks!

.The geese (Branta canadensis) have now flown south for the Winter. It will take a long time to get their and then they will need to come back. It's hard to migrate. They switch places frequently so that they do not get tired. -E.O.
This is a Stinkbug I found inside my house. I makes a gross smell when you kill it. The Stinkbug´s scientific name is Halyomorpha halys. I notice that it has a cool grey and black pattern on its body. Also, I found that one of it´s legs was damaged. It could have gotten hurt while trying to come into the house! - DS
I have been seeing many mossy logs "byrophyta" that are fallen on the ground around the back woods and in the wood in my house. This picture was taken by rotj.files.wordpress.com and it looke extremly simaler to the moss I see on the logs in my woods. Also the feel of this type of moss is a squishy feeling. Finally, I noticed that there are peeling from the sides of the log, I think this because the log is dead. TCK
This mushroom here is called the, Amanita muscaria or more commonly known toadstool. They are not very big mushrooms but they can be beautiful and have vibrant colors. It is poisonous and should definitely not be consumed. It does not get nutrients through photosynthesis, it gets nutrients from living or dead animals, plants, or other fungi. -WAThis is my bunny Houdini (Oryctolagus cuniculus). He is molting like crazy! Every time you pet him you get fur on your hand. It will last up to six weeks but it seems like it has been going on longer. -E.O.
I took this picture in the backwoods of the Dover Sherborn campus. I'm pretty sure this is a oak or "Quercus" tree, this is also a deciduous tree because almost all its leaves have fallen. Something awesome about this tree is that it not only has moss but also mushrooms growing on it. Are the mushrooms there from old age. TCKThe leaves have finally changed to their new beautiful colors. Why is the bottom one green? I picked it off of a baby oak. Maybe that has something to do with it. The oak leaves scientific name is Quercus rubra. The maple leaf on the bottom's scientific name is Acer platanoides. -E.O.
This is a picture of fungi Genus Conex growing on a broken tree with moss. The mushroom is growing near many more mushrooms. A mushroom is pose to be grown 7 feet under ground. Did you know you have more in common with a mushroom then you do with apes. BP
Recently I have been seeing many trees similar to this one with a lot of moss on it. I think it's from all the cold weather and it making the trees bark grow a mossy mold on it that is permanent.I pretty sure this is an oak tree because of its shape but I also think because of its size. The scientific name is Quercus. TCK
